Tighten By Elongation (TBE) is a precise method of controling the pre-tension in bolts by measuring the elongation. Unlike traditional methods of bolt tightening, TBE is not reliant on a friction coefficient which is a very difficult variable to estimate leading to large variations in pre-tension.
